To One In Pain
The drab sky above looks down on your dark, scathing soul.
There are no candles, no stars, no hope left, no lights.
Your heart and mind are deprived of all sunlit delights,
And the sullen night is hard, a void, of a rue, black and whole.
My brother, my sister, live by the flame
Of love, for only love can save;
It transforms a dry, desert mound into a wave,
And furnishes your being with a robe and a crown.
Do not believe God has betrayed you, nor any of the same,
But hoping against hope, keep your faith and lay your poor head down,
And your spirit shall sleep in Him, and it will surely grow
In love's kind oasis of new, refreshing air.
Yes, I know all about you, I know-
And with all my being
I will be there.
And so I write to you, my friend.
For I know, I know,
And care!
There are no candles, no stars, no hope left, no lights.
Your heart and mind are deprived of all sunlit delights,
And the sullen night is hard, a void, of a rue, black and whole.
My brother, my sister, live by the flame
Of love, for only love can save;
For I know, I know,
And care!
